U12 Boys Win MSSL/MAPS Spring Challenge
Boys beat Montgomery United in the Final

The South Jersey Elite Barons Under 12 Boys won their bracket of the 2010 MSSL Spring Challenge on an un-seasonably hot March weekend at Fort Dix. The tournament win makes it the second of the U12 season and their third final in four tournaments the team has participated in. The boys dominated play all tournament, in the Five games they scored 14 goals and conceded 3.

In the group stages they had a 7-0 win over Chatham Utd (NJ), then lost 1-0 to Montgomery United (PA), followed by a 2-1 win over Poughkeepsie Heat (NYE). The boys finished second in their group and had to play the Rose Tree SC Gunners (PAE) who won the other bracket. Goals from Nick Testa and Harry Inglis lifted the boys to a 2-1 win as they hung on with grit and determination for the last 5 minutes of the game under immense pressure from Rose Tree.

The final would mean a re-match with Montgomery United (PAE) who out battled the boys in the group game to deservedly win that game 1-0. The lads came out fired up for revenge and turned the tables on Montgomery as they looked hungrier and fitter then their opponents, they won a lot more possession and played the game deep in Montgomerys half. The pressure payed of early when Nick Testa was put through and calmly chipped the ball over the keeper for the Barons first game. 10 minutes later Geoffrey Schaeffer collected the ball on 35 yards out on the right hand side of the box and smashed one into the top corner. Quinn Grossman then added a third with a great individual effort, running 35 yards with the ball and calmly slotted the ball past the keeper. The Barons then added a fourth goal to make the game secure.

Congratulations to the U12 SJ Elite Barons!
